Bio

Born on August 8, 1995 in the Appalachians of rural east Tennessee, bassist McKenzie Kyle Tucker is the Jim Carrey of music. Formally trained in blues piano since he was eight years old, Tucker realized his passion for music at a young age and quickly picked up guitar and bass. At nineteen, he moved to Nashville to major in bass at Belmont University. During his time in college, he recorded bass for Chris Grose’s indie rock project Etymon and for country artist Vinny B'Let's Get Crazy. He also performed with the metal band Bee Bong from 2015 to 2017 and recorded on their self-titled debut album.

On stage, Tucker dominates a performance with fearless enthusiasm and presence. A March 2017 show made him the first Belmont student to perform death metal in the Curb Cafe with tunes such as “Evil Dead” by Death and “Descending Abomination” by Krisiun. A few months later, as part of Roy Vogt's Bass Ensemble, McKenzie played alongside Victor Wooten on Wooten's song "Maestros de la Frecuencias Bajos" at the Nashville State University.

"Onstage with my bass is the one place where I can be myself," Tucker explains. "Uncensored, unbridled. It's like nothing else matters except that place in that moment. What other people think about you doesn't matter. It's your life and your stage. Command it."

Album Review: Bee Bong Self-Titled Debut

Lyrically, it's something fun and refreshing to listen to. Musically, there are definitely some catchy tunes that will get stuck in your head the more you listen to them.
